Self Storage Encourages “Staycations”
A ‘staycation’ is the term used to describe the growing trend of staying in the UK for a summer holiday rather than going abroad. This has many advantages. The first and most obvious one is money, in the absence of flights and the bad exchange rate especially in the euro-zone. The second is that there is more flexibility – it I easy to just get in your car and go and come back whenever you want depending on the weather.
There are many different seaside towns to choose from – Aldeburgh holds a festival in June which was founded by Benjamin Britten where there are many different things to see and do. Blackpool is for thrills and Newquay is notorious for teenage revellers. Salcombe offers excellent sailing as well as a multitude of beaches to choose from. Many of these towns also hold regatta weeks in which there are many things to see and do and have fun in. The annual sandcastle competition in Salcombe is an extremely popular event. Many seaside towns also have famous and impressive landmarks such as the Brighton Pier alongside the famous donkey rides that can make for an extremely enjoyable and traditional holiday with children or as an elderly couple.
The rise of the ‘staycation’ has been such a major trend that in August 2009 that trips abroad by UK residents slumped by as much as 17% according to the Guardian website.
Britons have therefore tried to make their holidays a little different and more exciting than just being at home or only a few hours away and there has been growth in the sales of small boats and jetskis. This is an investment into future staycations. Inflatables and BBQs have also seen a boost in numbers sold.
If you don’t live by a lake or the sea there is often nowhere to store it for the winter months. Jet skis and boats also come with ample amount of equipment that cannot possibly stay at home or live in your garage: not to mention inflatables (even when deflated!) and BBQ s taking up valuable space. Self storage is therefore the perfect answer as to where to keep it all. Britain is also prone to random bursts of heat, if this occurs it is simple to go to your local self storage centre and take away your boat or jetski for the weekend. With 24 hour CCTV and security staff you can be rest assured that your key to a brilliant staycation by the seaside is in safe hands.
