Peace, Love & Storage by IKEA

Posted April 11 2011 in General Storage

You may have seen the most recent addition to the IKEA marketing campaign which we find very entertaining in the world of storage. It is a 1 minute advert which looks like a comedy stand up show. The concept is simple – a stand-up comedy sketch set on a stage with 2 scenes set ups, one as a bedroom and one as a living room – one for men and one for women. There are 4 comedians who fight their sex’s corner by joking back and forth to answer the age old question “who are messier men or women?” Some of the most memorable jokes on the advert to strike a chord:

  • “Shoes, Shoes, Shoes, what is she a centipede!”
  • “Who do men think tidy up; small army of ninjas?”

IKEA have some great storage solutions to maximize the storage space that you do have in your home. However, what happens when you run out of space altogether in your home? Self storage is the simple solution for this common problem, and you don’t even have to move home! Self storage facilities throughout the UK can help avoid all of those family arguments over the typical “hoarder” or dedicated collectors of magazines, motorbikes, antiques, teddy bears etc which just can’t fit into the family home any longer!  You can even store your winter wardrobe in summer, and vice versa when summer is over.

This situation tends to be more common within major cities where the standard living space is generally a little smaller.  The number of apartments and flats is much greater in the city, than the countryside. Self storage can offer a simple and accessible ways to store all your troublesome treasured items, whilst still allowing you to access as and when you require: most are open 7 days a week and the security installed means its only you have the specific access code and key to your treasure!

Cluttered living space can also become very stressful and tempers can be easily frayed, undoubtedly putting a strain on family relations.  Removing all the unnecessary items from within your living space can generally restore harmony within the home and prevent arguments over “who left the roller skate in the middle of the hallway?”

Avoid the awkward situations and arguments like the comedians in the advert, and opt for the simple solution of self storage.  It is not an extreme option as you may initially think: it’s a sensible, hassle free solution to the ever increasing storage problems faced by UK city dwellers in today’s society.

In the meantime, have a look at the advert itself and smile in acknowledgement of the situations depicted!
