Storage Helps Build Santa's Sleigh

It’s that time of year again; extra room is being made for all the visitors, mountains of food is being bought, presents are being wrapped and, Santa’s Grottos all over the world are surrounded by over-excited children waiting to tell the big man himself what they want for Christmas.

Last week, Blakenhale Infant School in Birmingham held a multitude of Christmas activities to help raise money for outdoor equipment for Early Years, ICT resources and playground equipment for all years; one of these activities was running their very own Santa’s Grotto including a replica sleigh – as we all know, Santa keeps his real sleigh for the big night itself as he can’t risk a breakdown on Christmas Eve, so insists he has a replica made for anywhere he visits (....he can also be a bit of a diva sometimes!).  They were stuck for some materials to construct the grotto and sleigh so visited our Birmingham East Storage Centre which is on Garretts Green Lane, just round the corner from the school itself.

Ida, our Storage Centre Manager is in fact an ex-pupil of the School, so was more than happy to help as much as possible.  Unfortunately even our large storage boxes are a little small to construct something as large as a Sleigh and surrounding Grotto.  However, our ever helpful staff came up with a solution that not only provided materials for the School; it helped Alligator Storage recycle redundant signage.  The storage centre has recently been re-branded and had the signage changed as part of this process.  There were several redundant boards left over and the School were able to put them to good use and build the grotto and sleigh.
Jo Fennell, from the PTA popped into the branch today with a copy of their newsletter and they have very kindly mentioned Alligator Storage and thanked us for our donation.  They don’t have a final figure yet for the money raised but they have managed over £700 so far – WELL DONE!



Alligator Storage would like to wish them all well with the rest of their planned activities such as the Christmas Disco planned for tonight and the Christmas Party for younger years tomorrow, as well as a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.
