Even Santa Uses Archive Storage

Posted December 19 2011 in General Storage

There are roughly 2 billion children (those under 18) in the world.  However, since Santa doesn't (appear to, anyway) deliver gifts to the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Buddhist children, his workload is reduced to 15% of the total; making the number of potential deliveries on Christmas Eve a staggering 378 million.

Now being realistic, Santa only has 31 hours of Christmas to make all the deliveries worldwide so has to devise a methodology to help reduce the number of stops he has to make.  The age old formula used by the big man himself is the fail-safe “Naughty or Nice” list.

Santa keeps a record of every child’s good and bad behaviour throughout the year and runs a detailed analysis of the collected data to determine whether a gift will be scheduled for delivery or not.  Keeping track of the 378 million children in the world is no easy task and, as you can imagine, there are sometimes several files worth of data gathered for every child; depending on their actions throughout the year.

Yes, Santa Uses s-Elf Storage

Santa Claus has always been a firm believer in using s-Elf storage facilities throughout the world to make his life easier on Christmas Eve.  He stores all the gifts for a particular area in a central storage facility so his sleigh isn’t overloaded between stops.  The concept of archive storage is a slightly newer concept to him though.

For years he has collected information to help him decide who deserves a gift and who doesn’t but was found to be in a situation where the log books and files where literally taking over the North Pole.  Now, along with the storage he uses for the millions of gifts, he has rented a separate space to store all of his archived documents.

Santa is in the same situation as every other business in the UK whereby he must retain a hard copy of all records for taxation and legislative purposes.  Santa is duty bound more than most with his legal obligation to retain documents being set at an astounding 50 years.  Using a self storage facility to store his archived documents, Santa can access any file he needs, whenever he wants:  he has the only key to the archive storage room.  If he is busy but needs to make a last minute change to an entry on the list, he sends ones of his elves to retrieve the file for correction.
